Whether you're just looking to scope out the city life, enjoy views of the Portland skyline, or jog the 5K loop, the Back Cove Trail offers a popular destination for city dwellers and visitors alike.
If you're feeling ambitious, or just can't get enough of the nice weather, you can add in 2.1 miles by stringing together the Back Cove and Eastern Promenade trails. Just follow the path near Tukey's Bridge to continue on for access to classic Portland Harbor views, or the attractions of East End Beach. For those that can't get enough of the water, this small urban beach offers both a boat ramp and dog access during the offseason.

Hope you're ready for a hike! There are more than 10,000 acres of preserved land here. Mount Agamenticus offers an extensive trail network, with options ranging from moderate to advanced. Trails are open to hikers and bikers, and some even accept ATVs. You'll find some of the best mountain views in Southern Maine here if you make it to one of the summits or the scenic overlooks.

With a wide variety of trails to explore, Bradbury Mountain offers great summit views and plenty of places to picnic, all within a quick drive of Portland.
The mountain itself is less than 500 feet in elevation, and most of the well-marked, mixed use trails range from less than a mile to 2.5 miles long. Leashed pets are welcome year round, and you can even reserve a camping spot or picnic pavilion if you're looking to spend some more relaxed time here with friends.
