Experience the legacy of Van Gogh in Amsterdam

Artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) died 125 years ago on 29 July 2015. To honour this Dutch Master's outstanding contribution, exhibitions and cultural events can be enjoyed at various cities throughout Europe. The highlight of this special year is the exhibition The Munch : Van Gogh at the Van Gogh Museum* in Amsterdam. This exhibition is the first in history to pay extensive attention to the similarities between the two giants of Western painting, Edvard Munch (1863-1944) and Vincent van Gogh. Among more than a hundred artworks are iconic masterpieces that are seldom put on loan, like “The Scream”, “The Sick Child” and “Madonna”.

For those wishing to try out their own artistic talents, AmsterdamCanalPainting is offering a workshop “Paint Like Van Gogh”. Even if you have never painted before you can join this workshop and leave with your own unique Van Gogh style painting!

*The Van Gogh Museum houses the largest collection of his paintings, like “Sunflowers” and “Almond Blossom”.
